Have you ever dreamed of playing softball internationally? Spreading the love of God through a sport you love? Representing the United States of America? If so, we have the mission trip for you! Each year, Where Love Abounds (WLA) takes 10-15 softball players to Belize to play softball and spread the Word of God. For a week, our softball players and coaches host softball clinics, visit local schools, and play local Belizean softball teams. At each location, team members have the opportunity to pray for the Belizean players, form friendships, and spread God's Word. At the end of the week, Team USA plays the Belizean National Softball Team at the national stadium in Belize City.
We have created this as a space for players and coaches to get information on upcoming mission trips, hear testimonies from past players and coaches, and apply to go on a future Team USA trip.
About us
Team USA is a group of college softball players and coaches with a heart to serve the Lord and to love others, while sharing their love for the game of softball. Our team travels to Belmopan, Belize, to work with local schools, minister around the city at hospitals and on the streets, speak on a local radio station, and play with the Belize National Softball Team. We may all come from different areas and teams, but we can all come together for one purpose when we go to Belize - to spread the Gospel and to spread our shared love for the game of softball.
Belize 2018 Player Testimonies
"Growing up I’ve always volunteered with my church and youth group doing mission minded work on the local level, never did I think that going to a different country to spread my love of the Lord and passion for softball would have changed my life. I had this amazing opportunity through Where Love Abounds to do just that. Before going I prayed for months that I would be a blessing to everyone I came in contact with, but the kids blessed me so much more. The excitement that they had while learning about Jesus is an emotion I can’t put into words. Being able to share the love of Jesus was amazing and teaching them the game of softball was just a plus. I hope to return there to reconnect with the kids but they will always have a piece of my heart." - Meredith Mize, Team USA 2017/2018
"During our stay of 8 days in Belize we did numerous things, but the thing we did the most was help spread the word of God. Not only did we spread this through softball, we did prayer walks throughout the city of Belmopan, gave away wrist bands that said “I am a child of God”, did many things that help get the word of God out. We visited the local hospital and asked those who were sick or injured if we could say a prayer for them. Each night while in Belize, we would compete against local towns softball teams. After each game, one or two of USA players would share their testimony. The last day in the city, we played the Belize national team. The hosts we stayed with own a local radio station, and we were given the opportunity to talk on it. Each day, we were provided all three meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. After breakfast, we went to several local schools and did softball camps, at these camps we shared our love for the game, and our skills with the little boys and girls that attended these local schools. We also gathered our old equipment we don’t use anymore and left for the children in Belize. While in Belize, we had a “fun” day. For this fun day, we went to the Mayan Ruins." - Taylor Waddell, Team USA 2017/2018
"Being able to travel and play softball in Belize was a dream come true. Not only were we able to play the game we love, we were able to spread the word of God on and off the field. Going to Belize changed my mindset of a lot of things. We as Americans do not realize how lucky we are to be able to afford softball equipment, food, have a roof over our head, and everything else that we tend to take for granted. I am blessed to have had this opportunity for two consecutive summers and I cannot wait to return and see the growth and impact we made on every single person there." - Charley Cox, Team USA 2017/2018
